Since 1925 the Danish National Symphony Orchestra has been the cultural flagship of DR, the Danish Broadcasting Corporation. With Maestro Fabio Luisi as its new Principal Conductor and a succession of prominent guest artists each season, the Danish National Symphony Orchestra is today among Europe’s leading symphony orchestras. The DR concert hall is designed by French architect Jean Nouvel with acoustics by Yasuhisa Toyota and has been rated one of the world’s best concert halls by ‘Gramophone’. Most of the orchestra’s concerts are broadcast on Danish Radio and to large regions of the world through the European Broadcasting Union.

The audition will take place on:

  • Firday the 22nd September 2017 from 10:00 AM      (Pre round)  
  • Saturday the 23rd September 2017 from 10:00 AM         (1st & 2th round)
  • Monday the 25th September 2017 from 02:50 PM - 04:00 PM (Final round with orchestra)

At the audition we would like to hear:

  • Mozart:  Flute concerto in G Major, KV 313 1st mvt. (Allegro Maestoso)(No cadenza)

  • Nielsen: Flute concerto 1st mvt.

  • Excerpts with orchestra

Working in the Danish National Symphony Orchestra and in Denmark

The working schedule is based on 24 hours a week plus 15 hours individual preparation based on 42 weeks pr year. Normally rehearsals are held Monday till Friday with concerts twice a week. Domestic and international touring is also a contractual obligation.

The orchestra is located at DR Byen in a smoke-free indoor environment, with good practice – and work facilities and a subway station close by.

Annual salary: 399.100 - 490.900 DKK. Further to the salary is a 19 % pension and an extensive public health care system as well as instrument insurance

Employment is subject to confirmation of residence and work permit in Denmark.

Royal Swedish Opera


The Kungliga Hovkapellet (The Royal Swedish Orchestra) has been fundamental to the Swedish music scene for nearly 500 years. First, in 1526 as orchestra to the royal court, and since 1773 as the Royal Opera orchestra. Today, the Kungliga Hovkapellet is comprised of 105 musicians. It’s home is the Opera house in Stockholm, where it performs around 200 operas and ballets each season. In addition, they regularly perform symphonic and chamber concerts. The orchestra's recent recordings together with chief conductor Lawrence Renes have received international attention.

As a member of the Kungliga Hovkapellet, you will be a part of a unique and vibrant orchestral tradition as well as having one of the world's most beautiful working environments.

The South Dakota Symphony Orchestra (SDSO) is a dynamic regional orchestra of 86 professional musicians that performs in the 1800-seat, acoustically superb Washington Pavilion in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. The orchestra’s season consists of 7 Classical concerts, 4 Pops concerts, 5 Chamber concerts, family and educational concerts, special programs (Lakota Music Project and Music as Medicine), and regional tours.
