The Norwegian Radio Orchestra

The Norwegian Radio Orchestra is seeking our new Principal Flute. We can offer an exciting and varied job in an artistic and friendly environment.

We are proud of our versatility: Our core repertoire is classical, symphonic music. Nevertheless, our repertoire stretches over many music genres and we strive for excellence in all of our projects. We encourage all of our musicians to share their ideas and actively contribute to the orchestra's artistic development.

The orchestra's size reflects our chamber musical approach to the orchestral repertoire. We want every musician to feel able to take musical initiative. It should be noted that we encourage a flexibility within the section so the principal parts are played by the co-principal on a regular basis. With this in mind, the section leader must coordinate rotation within the section, and also play alto flute and/or piccolo if required.

The orchestra has a popular chamber music series in which the musicians are encouraged to participate.

Qualified applicants will be invited to audition.

Audition repertoire:

Mozart: Flute Concerto no. 2 in D, KV 314. 1st and 2nd movements, including cadenzas

Prokofiev: Sonate for flute and piano, op. 94 3rd and 4th movements

Orchestral excerpts

The audition will take place at NRK, Bjørnstjerne Bjørnsonsplass 1, Oslo,
Friday 19th, Saturday 20th and Sunday 21st of May 2017.

Orchestral excerpts will be available for download from our website from 19th of April 2017
